Nothing Exists Independently — Jone Victoria — May 5th 2009

You are born as a witness to changes of Nature, in turn, Mother-Earth, known by many names will witness your life as well.

All humans are connected to their immediate environment upon birth. The first connection outside the womb is light, followed by sound. As a baby’s sight strengthens they take notice of any movement – trees outside of a window, or they follow the sound of a buzzing insect with their eyes.

What sophistication, in our desire to get older or accumulate riches, do we supplant to eliminate the awe factor of our youth?

Today I thought about how easy it is to be the child again; to re-connect with nature, no matter where you live. If you live in the city is there a park or boulevard that envelops you with a scenery of trees, flowers, or a body of water?

If you live in the desert is there a place of solitude to use for inner stillness as you gaze upon the painted layers of the Earth’s mesas or witness soaring birds?

If your environment is one of snow and ice is there a night sky filled with dark clarity to reveal the heavenly stars? Is there Sun during your day to reflect the hues of a prism in the snow?

If your surroundings are mostly filled with rain, what’s to keep you from sitting in your backyard to realize the infinite shades of green?

All of nature feeds us. We are connected by the air we breathe, the ground we walk upon, and the food that sustains us.

In mindful living, there is a simple way for our Soul to be constantly nurtured. It’s called observation.

Mind chatter is set free when observing nature. Observation slows the mind chatter so new perspectives and insights flow gently, like a cool breeze into our over-heated mind.

If you feel the restlessness of dissatisfaction within your life, allow Nature to heal you with her gifts.

Put out a few pieces of fruit, bread or seeds to coax birds from their hiding places. When they come to eat, be still and just observe.

Relax your mind in watching a spider spin her web, or a butterfly drinking nutrients from a flower.

Place some metal pans outside when it rains and listen to the music of Nature.

Observe any insect in their daily task of foraging.

Sit and observe any flower as it turns its face to follow the Sun.

We are all sharing space, and resources on this planet. Seek true beauty in each day by simple gestures. Co-exist with Nature – she has much to teach her dependent children.

Jone was one with Nature, she appreciated and honored all living things! Actually she felt the spirit of the Earth, Rocks Water, and Weather. She regaled in Nature’s gifts to all of us, the ocean, woods, rocky trails, and especially those areas she called her own — quiet glens, or circles of stone, or the sound of waves crashing upon a rocky coast. She absorbed the majesty and grandeur  wherever she found herself, on a busy city street, on an airplane 30,000 feet above Earth, under an overpass, in a dark occult book store, Jone would find a hint of Nature’s beauty in a sound, smell, feeling or sight that inspired her. She was at her most alive I think, when she was in a natural setting with all of the cacophony of Nature’s rhythms and breathtaking images. She was a keen observer of life, of people, of beauty and even the mundane. Indeed she could find eloquence in a blade of grass, a rock or a simple dandelion.

I think her observation of a child-like awe is so right on! A baby sees everything as a new shiny penny — no matter how unimposing an item, in a child’s eye it can be magical, interesting, amusing, useful, or just fun to play with. There is no modification as to monetary value, day-to-day usefulness, necessity, or beauty — it’s just new and interesting — something to be observed! I also sometimes think how wonderful it is to be able to tap into our own inner-child where everything is new, bright and shiny!

New Moon in Capricorn — January 9, 2016

The New Moon crests at 8:30 PM EST on January 9th at 19 degrees of the sign. I always feel that the New Moon in Capricorn gives us a practical outlook on our true ideas about what will bring us the most fortunate strategies to pursue throughout the coming year. We all have a good idea about what we want and what we need. The two may not be compatible in any way, however in our own ideal world we have definite goals and just need the ability, talent, money or pathway to go for them. Therein may lie the problem — the wherewithal to actually have the assets to be able to reach our goals during this lifetime! Sometimes just going one step at a time is the best plan — and the New Moon in Capricorn is the perfect helpmate in this regard. Capricorns are dogged in their determination to reach their goals, however, they understand that it’s not going to happen all at once. Whether it’s a good education you need, an apprenticeship, lessons from a master, innate talent or just time in your chosen field, with the New Moon in Capricorn you will be able to make a sensible step-by-step plan to get to your goals.

Of course, right now we are in the midst of a Retrograde Mercury period (Jan. 5th to 25th – in Capricorn) — sigh! So —  many of the things we decide to pursue during this time frame — especially anything totally and completely new, may have to be repeated or changed in some manner. This doesn’t mean our New Moon has no value, indeed — ideas and plans made in concert with a Capricorn New Moon will have staying power. However, we may have to build in a contingency plan to coordinate all aspects of our New Moon affirmations, wishes and desires. For instance — you want a new job or position — perhaps there will be a waiting period before it comes to fruition, and you may be required to have several interviews, to take a course or some training to become fully versed in all that is needed. Or — you are looking for a new home, your ideal house is on the market — but somewhat above your maximum price. You may find that it is still for sale in a month or so at a reduced cost! Rx Mercury seems to put barriers in our way, but staying with your ultimate plan will give you an edge when it returns Direct on the 25th. Often, Rx Mercury will help to resolve an issue that’s been on the back burner, or that you thought was settled unfairly or not in your favor — you may find it’s been reviewed and you get a second chance at just what you wanted.

If we are candid in our requests, you will find that you will have a better result just by being true to yourself and your ultimate goals. Taking the Bull by the Horns and being brutally honest will, in the long run, prove to work the best. The powerful aspects between the Planets now will impact our thought patterns and if we are open-minded enough, will set us on the right path. Saturn/Neptune can help to open our eyes to the fact that our fantasies are just that — pie-in-the sky ideas that have little merit. Get real with what you know you want/need, and then make plans accordingly. Don’t sugar-coat your lack of success to others, or circumstances beyond your control — it’s your life and it will be what you make of it throughout your time here on Earth.

Mars in Scorpio will enhance whatever Zodiac house it lives in — it will help us eliminate any negative influences in our lives. Brutally candid in its appraisal of what is really good for us or who is going to make our lives better — you will be able to “see” through those habits or people who are a detriment and are just dragging you down on your upward journey to a better life. It’s time to clean up your act and get the clutter out of your life! You know you deserve all good things because you’ve worked long and hard for everything you have garnered in this world. Don’t let your misplaced empathy enable another to be an anchor around your neck! Mars will be in good aspect to Neptune on the 18th of the month giving us the strength to imagine our lives as they should be — use the beauty of this aspect through the end of the month to enhance your chances to begin anew — start over — or revamp your ideas and let your new awareness reflect in the way your write out your affirmations!

Venus in Sagittarius until the 22nd when it moves into Capricorn will lighten our minds and make us more likely to be open to new flights of fancy! Like a new puppy exploring its world, everything is interesting, fun and surprising — allow your inner-child to experience that kind of joy! When Lady Venus enter Capricorn on the 23rd, it will be one more reality check for us to contend with as we wander through this labyrinth of life! Use your mind, your spirit and your innate “knowing” to help guide you to the perfect pathway that will bring you and your loved ones the most reward.

Now to the real work of writing out our affirmations, wishes, desires and needs — think about each of the issues you wish to address — be practical and perhaps a bit critical of your choices. Vet each entry with an eye to getting the most positive return. Embrace your most intimate thoughts with the idea that everything is on the table — try something different — expand your horizons — think outside the box! Capricorn is very staid, pragmatic, stable, loyal and respectable — but you can put down in writing anything that is important to you! You may want more respect at work, to find your perfect job, to enhance your ability to communicate, free yourself of any angst, taking responsibility for your own decisions, or finding that perfect helpmate for the rest of your life! Go for those things that will bring you comfort, security, respect, love, and happiness in this lifetime. The New Moon crests at 8:30 PM EST on January 9th, at 19 degrees of Capricorn.

Synchronicity will increase your chances of success — write out your affirmations if you can, as soon as possible after the New Moon crests — this is the most potent and influential time — however the energy of the New Moon will last for the next 24 hours. Do this for yourself, your family and your loved ones — it only takes a few moments of your time, but the benefits can last forever — Peace!

New Moon Reminder — September 24th, 2014

For those who aspire to write out their affirmations, wishes, desires and dreams with the celestial and magical energy of the New Moon in Libra — the 24th is the day! Since the New Moon crests so early in the morning, all day is auspicious for writing out any of your requests and affirmations. Libra ruled by Venus covers all things beautiful, loving and bonding — but always looks for balance in all circumstances. Physically Libra’s realm is the lower back, kidney area, the skin and the sense of touch! How important is it to have that ability to physically “feel” the touch of someone we love? Babies especially need that skin-to-skin contact to bond as a human being, as a sentient being, as a being with five senses. A soft caress, a loving pat, an arm around one’s shoulder in times of stress — we all need to connect to our loved ones by touching them and feeling the warmth emanating from their body. Their compassion, their empathy and their love is felt through a hands-on connection. Libra can enhance our ability to communicate through the sense of touch! Sometimes just holding someone’s hand will give them the confidence they need to move forward — the first day of school, the first loss of a pet, whether the moment is good or bad — touch is the method we use to allow our feelings to be communicated when words are simply not enough. How beautiful to be able to tell someone how you feel by merely touching them, holding them, or hugging them.

Of course, the sign Libra has much more to offer — the sign that rules marriage and partners, our physical beauty (which is in the eye of the beholder), our surroundings that show our own personality and elan. Always striving for balance — so important — we need balance to physically move about — but also to keep us on an even keel mentally and emotionally throughout our lives. We look to the sign Libra to bring us beauty and balance, bounty and love! Libra is a Cardinal sign so has a great deal of impact in order to get us started on new projects. Have a new redecorating or makeover in the works? Libra can help you get going with amazing results!

Use this moment in time to work towards your own agenda — any area can be tapped into — be clear and concise if there are specific requirements you desire — or make sweeping statements about life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and love! Your own words are the power that is needed to get the ball rolling — think carefully about what your needs and desires are right now at this time. Give yourself this gift from the Galaxy, and write out your wishes with the energy and magical essence of the New Moon in Libra — believe you can move mountains with your thoughts and be amazed at the outcome of your own innate power. We are so much more than the sum of our parts — we are sentient beings with abilities beyond our ken — believe in yourself and the gifts the Universe bestows upon you. Our thoughts have substance and significance when written down, and especially when we mentally emit them out into the ether. Our affirmations and wishes can take form and begin to manifest into actual changes here on Earth. Don’t lose faith in your own abilities — with the help of the stars you will begin to see your world changing for the better, and you and your loved ones will benefit from your sincere desire to make this a kinder world for them.

Use the wonder of your inner child to wrest the enchantment and truth from your soul/spirit to reform your life into the journey of love and beauty it was meant to be — be inspired by your most ardent desires, and the magic and wonder in the ether will help to manifest your dreams. Now go on out and hug someone — find your bliss!

Halloween — October 31, 2013

It always seems to me that Halloween arrives just in time to shake up the status quo — it comes approximately between the Autumnal Equinox and the Winter Solstice! It’s roots go back to our Celtic forebears when the days began to get darker, and the cold winds started to warn of the coming difficulties of the Winter. It was believed that the veil between our Earthly world and the world of fairies and demons was able to be breached, and actions had to be taken to avoid being victimized by these sprites! Hence, our disguising ourselves to fool the beasties into passing us by for they did not recognize us in our changed visages. Also, the children would carry hollowed out turnips — some with faces carved into them and candles lit to help ward off any evil that might have been nearby.  Bonfires were lit to help scare off any creepies or crawlies in the area, and the villagers would come together to hopefully ward off any negativity that might be active, and causing trouble.  Superstition reigned, and all were consciously warding off any wickedness that might assail them. Amulets, charms and other magical items were carried to protect and keep one safe from any evil.

The Wiccan community celebrated a day of remembering their ancestors at this time (Samhain, “Sahwin”) one of four yearly celebrations, and the Christian communities also had an All Souls Day to pray for their beloved departed. These varied celebrations merged throughout the centuries and is celebrated throughout the world in various and sundry ways. Usually the festivities begin at sundown on October 31st and continue until sundown on November 1st.

Today, here in the USA we celebrate Halloween! It is one of the most beloved of Holidays — both children and adults patiently await the day or night when they can masquerade and become anyone or anything they desire! There are a plethora of princesses, fairies, super-heroes, cowboys, ninjas, and cartoon characters for the children to become. For the adults — their only limit is the vastness of their imaginations — from characters on the silver screen or favorite idols from the entertainment industry, to robots, demons, angels, and any fantastic creature or phantasm one can think to become. We can transform, camouflage, disguise, and impersonate all of the above! This year the Moon is in well-balanced Libra, so the celebrations might be more moderate — however, the Sun, Mercury and Saturn are all in Scorpio — so hidden surprises, scares and frights may be lurking in the darkness — for this one night, we can be all that our imaginations allow, we can dance, chant, sing, whoop, howl and generally let loose our free-spirited natures. We are transformed, renewed, spiritually liberated and unchained of Earthly endeavors.

We can once again become that inner child — amazed, awed, and agape at the wonder of this special night. Quickly going from house to house shouting “Trick or Treat” — seeing our children playing out their fantasies, as we did so many years ago. All the beasties and beauties vying for their favorite treats — carefree, immersed in their fantasies, free of all care — for this one night — we believe!

May you all have a BE”Witching” Halloween!
